In June 2006, the Foundation received a grant through the support of Illinois State Senator Terry Link (13^th District) to integrate our Cicero platform with a Citizenship program.  This program is still in a formative stage, but we have developed and are testing three major components of the program.

1.  Interactive History/Civics Game (Cicero):  Students play an Illinois version of the Cicero game, to learn about Illinois history and state government.  To date, about 75 students have tested this version. 

2.  Making the Informed Vote  (5 Session Classroom Series):  A Barat Master Teacher takes over a 6^th, 7^th, or 8^th grade classroom to run a week long program on weighing the issues and learning to be a well-informed voter. 

3.  Citizen Leaders (5 Session Classroom Series):  A Barat Master Teacher takes over a 6^th, 7^th, or 8^th grade classroom to help students internalize the concepts of citizenship and leadership.  As the refine their definitions, they review and nominate a local person for the Barat Citizen Leader award.
